Roughly a 15-minute drive from Turku, Kaarina is the first stop on the famous Archipelago Trail. Speckled with unspoiled forests and pristine parklands, the city is also just a hop, skip, and a jump from the seaside. Kaarina has a colorful history and there are plenty of manors, memorials, and even archaeological remains that bring this past to life. Among the historic sights are the ruins of a grand castle that belonged to the bishops of the Finnish Catholic Church in the Middle Ages. Well-serviced by the local bus network, Kaarina is also a great place to explore on two wheels.
